Term 5 - Beast Creator
Arachnids, insects, molluscs and myriapods. Mini-beasts come in all shapes and sizes, right here in our forest school. We hope to nurture a love of nature and the outdoors, coupled with a love of learning about the smaller things in life! We will handle a range of mini-beasts and small creatures, take photographs, make notes and observations. In science we will learn how to categorise mini-beasts and investigate habitats. We will experience first-hand a chalk pit nature reserve in our local area, where we will identify mini-beasts whilst pond dipping and learn about some of the local birds of prey. Working outdoors, we will design and make bug hotels for our forest school, developing our collaborative skills and on-site environment.
