Term 4 - Meet the Greeks

Term 4 - Meet the Greeks

Let’s discover a fantastical world of mythical creatures and heroes!

The children will become real historians as we explore the topic ‘Meet the Greeks’, in Ancient Greece. We’ll explore the land of Greece, where the sun scorches and the smell of Greek delicacies float through the street. The children will have a chance to try traditional Greek food and explore Greek culture. Children will compare how the Olympics have changed throughout time, and even have their own mini Olympic Games!

We will locate Ancient Greece in time and place using our chronology skills and we will add this information onto our class timelines. Through historical enquiry, the children will explore various ancient artefacts to see how the Greeks lived and what life was like for men, women and children. During lessons, we will spend time learning about ancient Athens, including how they became so strong to beat Persia in the Battle of Marathon. To end the exciting topic, we will discuss how the Ancient Greeks have influenced our lives today.
