St Peter's Junior School aims to inspire a generation through PE and school sport. We aim to inspire children to lead healthy lives and enjoy physical activity. We do this by learning the skills and understanding which give the children the confidence to get involved physically.

At St.Peters we want all of our children to be physically literate. Key parts of all our lessons are hard work, enjoyment and learning the skills whilst understanding how they develop. Our curriculum is bespoke and progressive following the children throughout the school.  Our PE lessons are taught by subject specialists who have been highly trained and understand how to support and develop children to become physically literate. Class teachers receive professional development working alongside Mr Allen to ensure the children get the best opportunities. We use Sports Premium money to welcome sport specific specialists into our school to enhance the curriculum, e.g. Thanet Wanderers, Infinity Tennis, Yo-Street Zone.

Swimming is part of the National Curriculum and children visit a local pool during Years 4, 5 and 6. They receive two terms of teaching to enable them to work towards achieving the national requirements. Mr Allen oversees this and works alongside members of staff from Your Leisure.

There are opportunities for all children to take part in extra-curricular sporting activities through lunch-time activities, morning and after school clubs, with some children also being invited to Elite clubs where children are invited to take part in tournaments and represent the school.

During 2022-23, St. Peters got through to the County Football Semi-Final, won a Speed-stacking competition, and have had successes at Handball, Rugby and Netball amongst others. We are part of Thanet Passport which means we have access to around 30 events per year, allowing the children opportunities to grow, develop and show their team spirit at different events.
