Thanet PasSport Dance Comp Winners!

Following our success of all things Shakespeare at the Theatre Royal, The Elite Commercial dancers along with Mrs Seeney and Ms Websper, went off on Thursday, to the first dance competition of the year; run by Thanet PasSport, at St Lawrence College.

The dancers had worked on a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet through street dance, choreographed by Mrs Seeney and ex student Ashton. The dancers  expressed the story beautifully using a combination of lifts, fast footwork, intricate moves and clever choreography. They were professional, exciting to watch and well rehearsed. This energetic routine combined with their excellent story telling skills helped make them fierce competition for the other 6 schools.

All schools had very strong entries, with a range of dance styles and story lines to showcase. The competition was judged by three judges who marked the pieces independently on a criteria that included fluidity, style and content.

Once the marks were tallied, St Peter’s had won with 266 points closely followed by Holy Trinity, whose entry was a solo piece by a Year 6 pupil called Tilda, who danced with both skill and emotion in a lyrical style.

A massive congratulations and thanks to Mrs Seeney ,who always sends our dancers out looking professional and slick. We are really lucky to have her! Look out for more arts news, coming soon.
